Danny Kustra BSc CCP
After high school and university, I found myself looking for a job that I was able to help people. A friend recommended emergency services and after a ride along at a local fire station I was hooked and applied to becoming a fire-paramedic at the Manitoba Emergency Services College (MESC). Shortly after starting my education, I discovered that my true passion was for medicine, and I pivoted my career towards emergency medical services. I worked for Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) for 12 years and in that time achieved my advanced care paramedic diploma. Over the years, I also found myself in various roles within community paramedicine, the paramedic mentorship program, TEMS, northern fixed wing transport, and remote contract paramedicine. In 2021, I achieved my dream and was hired on with STARS as a Critical Care Paramedic to which we service all critical care transport for HEMS and fixed wing operations in Manitoba. I have always had a passion for education and research and am currently working on my Health Sciences – Paramedicine degree and so the PEP appraiser team seemed like a natural fit for me. I continue to apply my skills as a clinician through STARS and have also recently accepted the role as the Director of Education for Paramedic Services for Fisher Ambulance Service and I hope to impart all the best practice guidelines from the PEP database into our team locally. In my spare time I love traveling, camping, and spending time with my wife Danielle and my twin girls Devin and Bailey.
