Intervention Recommendations
Appraisers are assigned articles to appraise by the PEP coordinator. Appraiser assign their articles scores, using the Level and Direction of Evidence scales, and make suggestions on the recommendation level for the intervention, based on the existing appraised research evidence. Senior Editors review recommendations and place the intervention in the proper cell in the 3x3 table, which indicates the intervention’s recommendation level. The Level of Evidence is on the x-axis and the Direction of Evidence is on the y-axis.
These tables appear within each EMS Nature of Complaint (clinical presentation) page, and are a visual display of the aggregate strength (level) and direction of evidence of an intervention in the context of a particular clinical clinical presentation. For example, an intervention may have a PEP recommendation of ‘3-yellow’ or ‘1-green’.
